Happiness.....
Not in another place, but this place;
Not for another hour, but this hour;
Not in sweet heaven, but this bitter earth;
Not desired by stars, but this weary heart.
We have wasted so much life,
worried about future,
dwell on past,
afraid of a true self,
fear of the collective.
We want love,
yet we fear love;
We want to love,
yet we fear to love;
and the more we fear,
the more fear finds us.
We had opulent dreams,
We made seamless plans,
But how many of us can say we see them through?
We admire nature,
We deify leader,
And how many of us can say we truly accept ourselves?
There is always a turmoil between the heart and the mind....
There is always a battle between the spirit and the flesh.....
There is a great man in us, and a hopeless coward, too.
In this worldly masquerade,
We all show off what is not really us;
In this grand vanity fair,
We all thrive for what is not worth having.
And still,
I believe in me,
I believe in happiness,
This is the life I am here for.
and I owe it to myself to live it,
unapologetically
