December Again

Annabel 
Every story begins with a silent spark,
Every season ends with an afterlife glow,
I loved the spring roses, the summer fountain, and the autumn dews,
I admired your youth beauty, your tender eyes in bewitching sonnets.
To live in this story is to live in a bottomless ocean, free yet breathless;
And to love you is to love a mediaevel fable, immemorial and timeless; 
The space between the letters and the distance between the words,
they know how much I have adored this life even when she whims.

It's December again, 
It's too late to tell you that you are where I belong,
and it's too early to unveil where we are heading...

Poet’s Journal

It’s December again. I can hibernate throughout all glorious seasons but I always wake up in December. This is my time and this is where my story begins. December is the end, the pause, and the destruction that gives birth to new orders. 

I am spending this December in a new place, a pleasant and cozy little town that I wished I had come earlier. I am showered by favours and kindness, and I am surrounded by farmlands and vineyards (what a surprise!). Life seems to slow down a bit now after a series of academic affairs. I am aspired to speed up my Ph.D. marathon, but right now, a cup of warm jasmine tea and a mellow winter break are all what I want to enjoy the most. 

Enjoy a fabulous wintery holiday break, dear friends! I miss you all! Thank you for visiting and see you back again soon!

  1. So wonderful to see you and Spruce doing well and ever radiant! Spruce looks so adorable and peaceful 🥹
    I simply love your poem, how it begins and ends in poise and how you brilliantly weaved beautiful imagery that contrasts and reflects and creates that space in between.
    Wonderful to read your poetry Annabel! and to see your update. I second your decision for warm cups of jasmine tea and a calm winter break😄😄! I hope in the pleasant cozy town, you continue to find more kindness, favors and beauty, especially being your birthday month 🙂

      And yes, tea is a must for December!🍵 I’m sure Spruce is appreciative of all holiday wishes! Oh, it took extraordinary efforts and struggles to bring this furry guy here with me 😅 (we were in a flight, a train, a boat, then a car, what a complicated trip with a pet!)

        Oh wow! I can imagine it must have been quite the challenge having such a complex trip! Makes me all the more glad to see you both settling in now for the holidays!

      3. 😂 It would be so tempting to sit near Spruce when he’s enjoying some sunshine ☀️. I am curious is Spruce more of the silent type or the very playful type? or somewhere in between?

      4. Spruce is very independent, energetic, and can be unaffectionate sometimes 😅 (which makes me jealous of other cat owners when seeing their cats are so attached to them, haha). But it works out for me though (I can be more of a “cat” than my cat sometimes and Spruce would be irritated…😂)

I have missed you, lovely Annabel, and it’s so nice to see your smile and hear your harmony of happiness, again. Indeed, December is a special month. As with fine wine, wherein time complements, yours is a timeless beauty, a blossom of winter which grows to glow more stunning each season.
