Imperfect Lover

In synchronicity,
We found one another.

In escaping,
We were encircled by Shadows.

When the dark ships move through melting shores,
When storms surge tenfold flung up endless cyclones,
I see again my bright ironical names in capital letters.
In this shimmering, ever glowing and peace-finding voyage,
Which wave on her way will stitch my heart back to our love,
Where the velvet vines of your raga spiral life into blossom,
where golden sunlights lift high, noble faiths your garlands?

But I fear this dream
is a miraculous X-ray,
hanging red at the river,
under dawn of apple-green,
then you shall see, dear,
I am only an imperfect lover...

Poet’s Notes:

Out of Sodom, I once escaped for my life.

For years, I neither looked back nor stayed anywhere near it, but the journey towards harmony and healing has never been easy…. When the past phantoms creep into the gaps of my memory screaming my name and demanding my return, a part of me still crawl to the silent corner like a frightened child. What an awful place to be!

But then, my friends, it’s only the prick of an arrow of love can awaken and redeem us from our sleep of death. And finally, we discover our own archetypals and participant in our unique immortality that has been promised from the very beginning of the voyage, although in such dark and terrible terms.

May we all find peace and beauty in every step of our journey….

  1. Such a moving poem Annabel very deep and layered. How love’s thread moves the poem toward light and hope while acknowledging in the end the speaker is not perfect but still loves all the same.

Indeed, may we all find peace and beauty and I wish that all the more for you Annabel for your strength and kindness πŸ™‚ and may love continue to weave its embrace around your life always πŸ™‚

  4. I found that each line could be speaking to me! The magical fondness found in the journey and the two wires of harmony and healing that bring a connection that can hold a charge…is electrical and appreciated. It is in the imperfections that beauty is found. To love at all is a blessing in of itself…. There is such power in the reality of an imperfect love that is perfect for you… Cause to even be at this point today, was a struggle and anybody that is not please, there is the door, I shall shout ANNABEL…. BOLD AND LOUDLY! Dance and Write… we shall celebrate the process and appreciate all that was and is to come!
