The Sweetest Burden

Whenever my heartbeats out of rhythm,
I secretly blame you, my friend!
like a violet in the meadow grew,
Bowed to earth, and hid from view:
what a strange melody, oftentimes,
you’ve sung to my heart's sentiments.

Are you caught by bonny youth
By that beloved form and fresh dew,
By those eyes seem so good and true,
Or by that mythical force of omnipotence?
When I try to silencing away,
Collect myself and flee,
In a moment my path strays
Back to the brightness of your gaze.
How the soul fills with happiness
In this queer place of quietness!
I can scarcely comprehend the bliss!

When blossoms are bursting from every leaf,
and thousands of voices from bushes beneath,
Quietly secluded in my private chamber,
Drowned in shining hibiscus shower,
Was I not living happily, virtuously,
In midnight’s solitariness?

Yet Nature has bestowed a woman such intuition!
And whenever my heartbeats out of rhythm,
I gleefully blame you, My friend!
like a dandelion in the ocean tide,
chanting wild, and swinging wide:

Missing you,
is the sweetest burden, I confide.

    1. You are very kind to drop by and leave me a message! When I’m stressed out, I want to be in the topical islands🏝 and drink fresh coconut juice under the trees😂🍸…. (which you’re fortunate to access)

      1. Not so much these days tho. With the Covid protocols, us seniors need yo be more careful. But yes, a wonderful thought indeed. I should go out to the sea and sand and sun again. Do visit! Am sure you’ll have loads to write about, aside from being able to relax. 😋👍

      2. Oh, I’d love to visit!🏝I was once an islander, too. (I spent a few years of my childhood at a lovely topical island that’s in the South China Sea 🌊). Even after so many years, sometimes my dreams still take me there🏝🥰…
And Yes! Do go out and enjoy the sea, sand and sun as soon as you can! 🏝🍹

      3. I mainly stayed at the South Island( the Chinese call it Hannai Island and it belongs to China)🏝. We also ‘wandered around’ other small islands nearby, but never settled in because they were under international disputes (unclear of the ownerships)😂🍹….

Anyway, it was for sure quite a story😅… Thank you for taking the interest and I will be happy to share that experience in the future! 🥰🏝🌸
