Throughout the afternoon I watched them, Wintry-leaves falling, falling from the sky, Whirling fabulously in the hazy air. I would like to decorate this silence, but my house grows only lonely and more plain. The wind chimes I hung on my patio huddled and strangled slightly. And suddenly my thoughts turned to you Who came to me upon a winter’s night, When earth spirits whispered outside my window flew, Your words showing, your eyes aglow with light. O Dear, are you really here or am I dreaming? For a moment, I can’t tell dreams from truth now. Some dreams were made too real to be lies, and some words were so you to be mistaken, always timely and candid, your voice trembled through. Astounded, I wondered who decided Love’s destiny? the faraway stars or you and I? invisible, unexplainable strings hauled me back, ‘surrender to fate, it was no good to astray’, they seemed to say. My heart was like the chill when you came, then with joy and passion all aflame, I danced and sang a foolish summer song, I prayed tomorrow would be a better day.
